This thread was interesting to read after the game has been out for a few months. I know a lot of people were super excited and defended this game from people complaining about it like it was their own child. But now I get the feeling that people's opinions about it have changed. For one, the mk9 section is completely dead. This thread should come back to life, I'd love to hear what people think about the game after playing it for a few months online!

I look at MK9 the same way i do MVC3 , a must have in the collection but at the same time it isnt gonna get played every single day ..... and thats only  because of the horrible servers it got stuck with!! Seriously ive wasted so much time trying to find a match that by the time i finally do get somebody im not in the mood to play anymore -_- MVC3 at least has better servers but still no spectator mode which would have been really cool Undecided

Me personally, I like it but I think this section is dead here because it feels like the site doesn't support the game at all, compare the tech info from mk2  section to this one for example plus our mods don't even play the game.

sup yall!  been a while.  Anyway here's a little bit of how I feel about MK9 since playing it after release (haven't touched mk2 since and need to get back to my roots).  Overall, i think the series is headed in a good direction in terms of a deep fighting game.  Has anyone seen the tourney at EVO?  8 different fighters in the top 8 compared to maybe 4-6 in MvC and Tekken, which means more balanced fighters/styles.  The online community to me is what can make or break a fighting game. experience.  From my experience, I can honestly say that the MK9 community is HORRIBLE.  More hatemail then gg messages.  I've probably fought hundreds of Kung Laos, Smokes, Sub-Zeros, Scorpions and Ermacs which makes playing online kind of stale.  Not too many people can random select yet because there are too many chars.  Its not really hard to learn someone new once you figure out a few BnB combos.  Old school tactics still work also - projectile, projectile, sweep, cross up, uppercut, 2-3hit combos are all still effective.  - I can write a whole review but won't get into all that.  Ill leave it at that. I guess I just miss playing the cool people from this board who can take AND GIVE an ass whoopin without takin it personal and shit.  so MIKE, FOOZ, DOC, BILLYBATS, when are yall gonna hop on?

PS Freddy as DLC... WTF is Boon thinking?  save that for MK vs Hollywood or something.

Not true, I watched the entire mvc3 tourney streaming and a total of 20-24 characters were used. Even one of the lowest tiered characters, haggar, was used by the guy who won it.

I know! But really, mortal kombat sold its soul long before Freddy.

But Viscant also had Phoenix/Dark Phoenix on his team. His Haggar wasn't even average. Haggar's assist gets priority over everything, that's the only reason he used him. Phoenix won that tourney like a boss. Viscant's Wesker is great though, I won't lie.
I watched the stream also, they only used Lower tiered characters for their assists. Haggar, Tron and Akuma for example. But typically, the players are still good with those characters.
