GAMEPLAY: this is the most important thing and i somehow forgot to mention it. its the gameplay that scares me. when i look at the gameplay i don't see it being much different then all the newer mk's. it's the chessmatch in mk2 that keeps me coming back. i'm not sure if mk9 is going to be a chessmatch game or not

I really don't think Bob Dylan was talking about video games when he wrote that!

Bob Dylan was talking about the world and existence in general. So You can apply it to anything. Plus regardless of what he meant. the great thing about music is that it can be interpreted differently by anyone.

Just because I don't like what I see from MK9 doesn't mean that I am "sinking like a rock" in changing times...  Sad

Well MVC3 was a huge letdown and im hoping MK9 will be the light at the end of the tunnel....and if its not the light at the end of the tunnel than we will all just have to face the truth .... great fighting games belong to the 90's and thats that. Still hoping for at least UMK3 on the PS3 tho Sad

true dat doc 90s was the best... cant remember it too much cuz i was just a kid... no offense to fooz and the other guys who are older it may be just cuz the newer mk's have out grown you, yes mkvsdc was shit only because it was 3d... mk is back in 2d and my opinion is it will be awesome... i dnt think any fighting game can be as "chess-like" as mk2 that is what makes it so different... remeber they are combining all 3 of the mks and adding new stuff in as well umk3 was not chess-like at all   Cool

Amen brother.... yah man its like the movies that come out today , flashy CG and amazing visual effects ...but wheres all the great acting? Wheres all the great film makers? With these sequels for our beloved fighting games its the same thing , flashy graphics , awesome lighting and sound effects....but where all the great gameplay gone? I dont know guys , look at it this way if MK9 comes out April 19th or whatever ( dont see why they just didnt make it 4/20 lol)  however April 19th is still Albert Hoffmans birthday   ( father of LSD for those of you who dont know)  anyway if this game comes out so late in 2011' with the coming of DEc 21st 2012 its not like we'll have to suffer so long with it right ?

You both are in your thirties, the nineties was your "era of growth and appreciation." People are into different things now. Just like the people who were your age in the nineties were into different things when they were 17/18. Think about it. That's not to say that you're wrong though, at least 3/4s of the movies out now are straight up bullshit. And the nineties did house some awesome shit: like my two favorite bands for example.

Fooz, I sense that you resented the thought of this game as soon as you saw the trailer (possibly earlier). I watched a few people play Tekken the other day at my school. MK9 and Tekken are light years apart. He isn't trying to be like them at all, it seems contrary actually. He's trying to be MK2- which is a tall order- just 2011 with renders; not people. It'll be good, fooz.

The bottom line is that MK9 is too much like all other games, there doesn't seem to be much of a leap between it and say Armageddon or even MK vs. DC. Since it was going to be a reboot, I expected an entirely reinvented game with different mechanics and basically different renders for all characters. MK9 liu kang looks exactly like MK vs DC liu, Kano looks exactly like he does in MK vs DC, scorpion, sub, etc. Same ridiculous combos, same air punch that bounces them off the ground like basketballs, and most air combos don't look like they are even hitting the opponent. MK9... more like MK vs DC 2.0.

They were in very different circumstances when they made MK vs DC, that's based off of intuition and the various interviews I've listened too. Mk vs DC should have never happened and both game's looks seemed to be based off of MK2. so some of the renders may appear almost similar as a result, regardless, they look WAY better in MK9. How I feel about this game is purely based on what I've seen. And the fact that I don't know, care or follow up about MK DC probably plays a part in our disagreement.

I agree one hundred percent about the bounce off the ground thing, and they could have done a better job at making them that much more distinguishable- aside from the fact the MKDC looks like shit compared to it. But just take some time to investigate.

The 90's was the worst era for films, period.

A lot of assumption going on in this thread for a game nobody has played.

Whoa, that's a bold statement Shocked

How about 2000-2010?

Back to this game...I pre-order a copy-if it has doo doo gameplay like mk vs dc-it gets traded or sold- simple as that. I for one am more than willing to give it a chance. I think it has potential and as a few others have said the 90's are over and I am not about to get future shocked gripping two decades ago-though I thoroughly believe the 90's were like the fucking renaissance for my generation.

First off you fuckin blockheads i never said the 90's had the best movies ever , all i said was movies nowadays suck  and secondly all i said was that the best fighting games ever to come out came out in the 90's. I understand they cant keep making 2d fighters because they're capable of making so much better looking games, but better looking doesnt always mean better games . Dont put words in my mouth you fuckin clowns. Lastly i never said anything about MK9 in a negative way , all i said was i HOPE its good. Jesus , dont get all your pannies in a bunch wtf?

Oh yah and lastly MK1 did come out in 1990/91?  So yah guys my age that grew up with Mortal Kombat are kind of expecting good sequels to a game we loved growing up , is that ok with you guys if we want another good MK game? Because it sounds like its become a problem to all you younger guys? 18 to 23 ? who never played ANY MK at an arcade LMAO. But yah i now see why you love your 3d graphics , to entertain the kids Cheesy

Dude, I was joking about the 90's being the worst era for films, though it did suck. You need to chill out. And the comment about "assumption" wasn't directed at you as much as it was Foozer, and even then, I wasn't being a dick. You need to relax.

I'm going to have to agree here with Fusion myself, they just don't make good games or movies/music anymore, i miss the old days when the special effects were done by the masters such as Rick Baker (American Werewolf In London), Rob Bottin (The Howling/The Thing), Tom Savini (Dawn Of The Dead/Friday The 13th), Stan Winston (The Terminator/Predator) ect. These great special effects masters are now being replaced by retarded ass cgi that in my opinion ruins movies, soon all actors will be replaced with computer generated actors, putting these guys out of buisness. I really don't even botrher watching new movies anymore, the cgi still looks to fake in my opinion, hell Jurassic Park has better effects then most movies these days and that came out in 1993! And whats up with the music these days, i turn on the radio and its a buncha damn noise to my ears, music just has not got balls anymore! I wished that rap and hip hop would have died out years ago like disco did. Don't get me wrong i like some old school rap, such as the Geto boys, Easy E, Dr. Dre ect. but this new rap and hip hop just sucks, it all sounds the same to me. As far as Mk9 goes, it does look pretty sweet in the graphics department, but i truly doubt it will hold and good replay value. I have 83 games downloaded on my ps3 hd, and none of them really have any replay value except for Mk2, best damn $4.99 i ever spent on a video game, and it just never gets old! I also miss the good ol arcade days when i could walk up the street to Mr. Gatti's and play me some Mk2 and Killer Instinct on the arcades. I will definitely check out Mk9, but i doubt it will near as great as it's predecessor's, anyways, im drunk and rambling...
