David, I'm not really clear on your example.  I understand that player 1 from team 1 would play player 1 from team 2, and that it is best out of 7.  But what determines the overall winning team.  Lets say foozer wins all 7 of his matches, but both his teammates lose their sets 4-3.  They would have 13 total matches one, but only 1 complete set.  The other team would only have 8 total matches won, but 2 complete sets won.  Which decides?  2 out of 3 sets or most total matches won?

shitforbrains, I'll repeat it again for you. I challenged you to 25 random fights. Those 25 random fights have nothing to do with the tourney. I'll beat your ass in the challenge matches AND the tourney matches so you can crawl back into the dark hole where you came from, pussy!

David, I did like the idea of having a preliminaries to see who gets to be team captains. Say, the top 4 players of the preliminaries get to be captains and we then choose at random who gets to pick first. First player to pick chooses 1 player from the roster and so on. no?

Agesone, if you read david's format, the teams will be selected at random.  Would you really want to go up against Foozer and Doc, or Foozer and David, or any combination of the three.  It may work out that way anyway though.

my bad, I wasn't sure how it goes down but thanks fer accepting, scott Wink

and sorry fer the outburst fellas. I just hope and pray this clown isn't thinking he can hack our members PSN accounts and get away with it.

while this is a really great idea. I think there's alot of ways that could end up bein petty unfair. Too bad no one ever followed up on that league because then we could do a seeding system in which the lowest seeded players got a much higher chance at getting the first pick. Instead of only one name in the hat maybe like 5 or 6 while the highest seeded players got only one.

^ if its good enough for the NBA it would be good enough for us. But there's no way I can think of, to make an accurate seeding bracket.

Here's what I think, based on you guys' suggestions.

If we were to have captains, there are two possibilities:

(1) 8 guys slug it out in preliminaries, then based on the results, there will be somewhat of a draft format.

Player who finished in first place, will choose first, as oppose to a random ordering of the top four. I'm open to this, but with either 8 teams of 3 (24 players), 4 teams of 3 (12 players), or 4 teams of 4 (16 players). The last two cases would have only 4 players in preliminaries. Number of draft rounds will vary.

(Using 4 player teams as an example)
(2)  We can make a video of this:  12 names (not the captains) go into a hat. The results will have 3 sets of 4 players, all of which assigned numbers 1-4 (based on the order in which they were revealed; the first player, will be teamed with the fifth player, then with the ninth). In a way, we sort of figure out 3/4s of each team.

Then whoever the prelim-players are, they will battle, with the first place winner going to team 1 OR being the first to choose what team he goes to.

I favor the latter a bit more, but I want to leave it up to you guys to determine who the four prelim-players will be.

I'll worry about how the matches between teams will go about afterward. Or at least after we figure this out.

 Shocked
That's a lot to digest but I think the second one sounds better and more manageable. i could help with the hat drawing since I can record.
Secondly, a draft would be more of an equalizer than the obvious outcome of the captains choosing their teammates scenario
As far as the four prelim players maybe another random drawing?
I guess we wait and see how many people are down to play which is always the first hurdle  Azn

I really like the idea of the best players being "team captains" and picking there players to be on there team. I think this way will make for a great tournament because all the teams will be pretty much even in talent. And i think it's something different too. And the way we can come up with captains is simple, when we fill the number of players we need for the tourney,(lets say we will need 4 captains) all players in the tournament will vote on who they think the 4 best players in the tourney are, and the top 4 players with the highest votes are the captains. the only rule for voting would be that you CAN NOT vote for yourself.

That sounds good to me btbb.  I do believe that the captain with lowest amount of votes should get the first pick just to even things out.  How many people do we currently have David?  If there is not enough interest, we may just have to go with 2 man teams, which would be randomly selected i suppose.
