Welcome Chris Anderson! I think the key to a good mortal kombat movie is to have the mysticism mix in seamlessly with a world and characters that we can really relate with. I remember being touched when reading scorpion's background story in MK1, but I was NEVER touched at any point during any of the movies. Cheesy one liners need to be kept away! I really liked the story of MK up to MK3, so maybe sticking with the game story wouldn't be such a bad thing as long as you can keep it serious. My advice: make the story seem semi-realistic and write characters that the audience will connect with and fall in love with. ie scorpion

hey Chris welcome!
Let me start by saying thank you for actually taking the time to inquire with some of us die hard fans about the movie!

Honestly If I could offer you any suggestions, advice, input whatever you want to call it Id say make it true to the games. Obviously your a professional and you know more about the industry then I, and you have to add you own style to the movie.

But I do have some opinions....   Smiley
I want to see Scorpion fight Sub-Zero (in my eyes this is a necessity!!!)
I want Reptile to turn invisible, I want to see Scorpion hitting people with his spear and teleporting, Subs freeze.
I want gore and fatalities!
I want some CLASSIC arenas to fight in. Especially the Pit!!

Dont be afraid to kill off big name fighters, this is mortal kombat people die.......brutally. lol

make it happen man!!!
Ill be seeing it fa show!

How about Kitana actually using her fans? or Baraka making a blade spark, Reptiles forceball. I would def like to see more of the special moves incorporated into the movie.

Well the way it stands now I dont think there will be too many special moves in the movie. It looks like thier trying to make it as "real world" as possible.

Which in spite of my suggestions I would LOVE. I saw that 7 minute trailer/ preview and no joke I came a little bit  Shocked

Hi, everybody! Well, where do I start?! Hum..? I'll let the cat out of the bag now... Mortal Kombat 2 is coming. It is going to erase that horrible, god-awful movie sequel Mortal Kombat: Annihilation. It is obvious going to be more true to the first movie in every way. Think of it as the real sequel to the first. Be prepared for this: Nothing in this world can prepare you for this! Mortal Kombat will continue!!

The plot is basically a reenvisionment of the second movie. Obviously the script is still being written. It is 60% complete on its 8th rewrite. The 1st draft was not even close to the vision to what will become the film Mortal Kombat 2.

I guess everybody wants to know what characters are going to be in the movie! These are a lot of characters that are in the screenplay:

On the good side: Johhny Cage, a new good character that was conceive just for the re-new sequel movie, Jaxx Briggs, Nightwolf (real name said in film), Princess Kitana, Kurtis Stryker, Kia, Rayden, Sonya Blade, and the main character of the story Liu Kang,

On the bad side: Kung Lao, Cyrax, Mileena, Kintaro, Jade, Queen Sindel, Baraka, Motaro, Ermac, Sheeva, Sektor, Noob Saibot, Rain, Smoke, and the main villian of the story Shao-Kahn.

There will be new characters that are specifically made for this plot that are either bad characters or good ones .

Not to be too much of a dick, but do you have any proof you're writing it? And why did you register as Chris and now you're Paul?  And can you explain all this?

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm3349927/

Filmography

In Development:
Shimmer Lake (details only on IMDbPro)
Writer:
Mortal Kombat (2013) (announced) (screenplay)

"It is still in debate whether Warner Brothers will produce the remake of the film[14] and all projects are currently stalled, but the storybook will be written by Oren Uziel.[15] "

http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/news/19166

"A few weeks back we broke the news that Warner Bros. Pictures was moving forward on a remake of Mortal Kombat with Oren Uziel (who saw his Shimmer Lake screenplay made the 2009 black list) in talks to write. It looks like Threshold Entertainment just landed a fatality on Warner Bros. as they've opened a suit alleging breach of contract over development. You can read more about this below."

I don't know man, sounds like you were had. Not too mention, you meeting this guy on PSN playing MK 2 sounds fishy. And assuming Kevin Tancharoen gets the job, it would be nothing like either of the two movies, most especially not a reworking of the second.   Also, nobody would solicit ideas like that. The legal implications are insane. This is a major, major movie from a major studio, they don't take risks like that. The movie is also not part 3 of anything, it's a remake.

http://www.slashfilm.com/2010/06/10/full-details-on-kevin-tancharoens-mortal-kombat-rebirth/

"he short film was shot in early April completely on spec. It was shot over two days on two RED cameras for or $7,500 with most of the crew donating their time. Post production took two months, and no one at the studio knew anything about the spec short film, even though screenwriter Oren Uziel (who is attached to the next Mortal Kombat movie according to imdb) wrote the script. Tancharoen made the film as a pitch for the job. The fight choreography was done by Larnell Stovall, who worked on the fight sequenced in Undisputed III, and did stunts for The Other Guys and Green Lantern.  Here is a short excerpt of Tancharoen’s comment"

http://dvd-max.com/tag/oren-uziel

"Oren Uziel wrote the short.  He’s currently attached to write the next Mortal Kombat movie at Warner Bros."

"So the big question is, did the studio, or anybody involved with the video game or anybody know you were doing this?

KT:  No.  They did not. (Laughs) This was something I did completely on my own.  However, there is a little bit of a tie-in, because I happen to be friends with Oren Uziel. And since we’re friends, I just called him up and said “Listen, I want to do this.  This is what I have in mind.  I want it to be contained, because I am not a studio with endless amounts of cash etc..."
