Just as we love Mortal Kombat, we also have love for other things. Sports bring us joy, pain, and sometimes outright frustration. I created this thread to let you guys discuss the daily issues impacting your favorite teams and players.

I am a diehard fan of the Toronto Blue Jays (MLB), Baltimore Ravens (NFL), Seattle Supersonics (NBA) when they existed! god damn Oklahoma City Thunder, and I am a fan of the NHL, but I don't have a specific favorite team to name. I also hate the New York Yankees.

Just as I have my favorite teams, I know you have yours, and just as I hate some, I know you do to. So feel free to discuss the lastest buzz surrounding the world of sports. Hey, WE ALL HAVE OPINIONS, let them be known!

To start off the discussion, the World Series is set! The Texas Rangers just came off an impressive victory over the New York Yankees in the (ALCS) to advance to the first World Series in their teams history. In the National League another shocker occured when the San Francisco Giants defeated the Philadelphia Phillies to advance to the "Fall Classic."

IN MY OPINION, I believe the Texas Rangers are the favorites in this series. The teams pitching has been solid throughout the postseason, and to add to it they have one of the games best pitcher's in Cliff Lee. They are also an offensive power house, led by players like Josh Hamilton, the teams emotional leader. Much respect to the Giants, but I think the Rangers are going to take this series!

Thoughts, comments?Huh?

Excellent thread bats! I love sports so i will be checking this thread out faithfully. I really don't want to talk about the world series since my phillies just got upset by the giants lol, i'm still upset about that series. the phillies didn't deserve it in the end because they didn't hit the ball as well as the giants , the giants were the better team in the series. but my predictionfor the W.S is the rangers in 7. cliff lee is not only a great pitcher but is on pace to be the best postseason pitcher ever and i don't see him losing in the 2 games he's gonna pitch in the series. my predictions so far in the playoffs have not been that good so maybe that means the giants will win lol

I am a HUGE sports junkie. I live in Chicago which you all know to be the greatest sports city in the world  Wink hahaha (not latley)
....But yea Die hard White Sox fan, I went to a TON of games last season, shame the fucking Twins got us in the end, but they were the superior team.

DA BULLS, fuckin love the bulls, Ive already tix for a few games including bulls v. heat  Grin Im gonna bring a mask with Delonte Wests head on it and yell about fucking lebrons mom all night haha. Yea but Jo No favorite player, were gonna be sick this year too, D.Rose is a straight killer, Deng has been solid this preseason so fingers crossed there, Noah is the shit, Booz will help a ton and our bench is stacked so Im pretty excited.

Da Bears Even though they are possibly the most retarted sports franchise in the world... and the lost two straight weeks at home Undecided ...dont really feel like getting into the bears right now.

Blackhawks are cool but Im way more of a Bulls fan. Im still pissed they didnt resign Roenick like 10 years ago... so I kind of have a grudge.

Dont know if you guys like soccer at all but I am also a Juventus fan (serie a). Ive got a Del Piero jersey and Buffon is the shit. I cheer for the Italians and Americans in international play. Because I myself am an italian american

Dont really like to many out of chicago franchises. Although I do cheer for the raiders because they were my old madden team, and even though they suck their still the shit.

Excellent Thread, no doubt! I'm a HUGE sports fan and was destroyed when seeing the score of today's game between Denver & Oakland. With that said, there is prolly no doubt, that I'm a "Homer" when it comes to supporting sports teams. But over the past few years, I've become more a fans of sports all together, giving credit due when a great play is made, whoever made it. Sure it sucks when it's against one of my teams, but man... talent is talent, no matter how you slice it.

What's been buggin me this past week is talk in the NFL about suspending players for helmet to helmet hits, and you could CLEARLY see defenders holding back today, and IMO i think its bullshit! Don't get me wrong, I'm not for seeing guys get injured or hurt, let alone suffering a concussion, but COME ON! These cats are paid MILLIONS, and they KNOW damn well the risks involved when they sign their name to that multimillion dollar contract. No one is forcing them to play football.

My suggestion is if a player leads with his helmet, and the hit leads to an injury/concussion, the offender, should be forced to donate 50% of his paycheck to a charity in which ever city the offense happened in, rather than the fine go to the already greedy NFL.

And Cliff Lee... This Guys amazing! I didn't follow baseball too much this year, but DAMN! Talk about a Yankee killer!

Its great to have your insight bt, me and you have had great discussions in the past about football and baseball. I know its been a tough weekend for you my Philly friend, the Phillies were eliminated on Saturday, and the Eagles loss on Sunday to the Tennessee Titans, but what can you do.

As far as your opinion goes on the San Francisco Giants , you seem to be right, even though Texas seems to be the favorite in this series, you can't count out the Giants. I agree with you, they took down the Phillies who were favored to either be in the world series, and by some to win it. They're relief pitching has been outstanding, and they have a scrappy run producing offense that gets the job done.

wilsons good as shit tho. I remember a few years ago he was like their long reliever and he had like zero control all he had was that good fastball but he really developed his slider nicely and the cutter has been a godsend for him. I like Wilson, he's like a punk too which is cool with me  Wink

Thanks ages, thats kool that your a Broncos fan, they got killed by the OAKLAND RAIDERS WTF! You mentioned the NFL fining players for "helmet to helmet hits." I disagree with you on that only because players should know how not to land an illegal hit that could possibly end a players career, or worse, giving them a life threatening injury. I do agree though that the game is soooo fast paced that some hits are just plain unavoidable.
